Famous Venice Film festival


There is a huge film festival going on in Venice every year of late August or early September. The film festival is called The Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica. It is already their 67 years this year since it established at year 1932 and is the oldest film festival in the world. The film festival is founded by the president of Biennale, Count Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata. This festival is part of the Venice Biennale, a major biennial exhibition and festival of contemporary art. It is screened and located at the historic Palazzo del Cinema on the Lungomare Marconi. There are more than 500 works and short film being showcased in the film festival especially the Hollywoods productions. There are the Volpi Cup to award the best actor and actress and the Golden lion award, which is the festival’s main award, for the best film and after the movie got award it will get serious attention and become well-known. For example, the Japanese cinema and India Cinema were awarded the Golden lion in 1951 and 1957 respectively and they have received more attention on their films.

Book-loving

The book loving tradition is still quite alive in Venice, if you are wishing to find some good books there are some great antique book shops where you can find some rare manuscripts being offered too.
